The Model: How Does it Work?
We’re non-residential by conviction, not convenience. We believe men seeking pastoral studies should stay in their local churches—God’s chosen setting for their testing and training. All Grimké programs combine…
Pastoral Mentorship
Unlike other seminaries, we require every student to have a pastoral mentor to guide him and help him apply his seminary experience in the local church. Lead pastor? We’ll set you up with a designated faculty coach.
Reading & Writing
Our reading program exposes you to the best teachers in the history of the church. Each course incorporates theological writing assignments to help you clarify your thinking.
In-person Intensives
Intensives provide you with an advanced, face-to-face education with professors—all qualified men with years of experience pastoring in local churches—and fellow brothers all training for pastoral ministry.
Grimké Chapel Live
Weekly Preaching from Grimké Professors
On the weeks you’re not at Grimké, we put out a mid-week chapel video to encourage you in your studies and to press you toward trusting Christ in your ministry.
Grimké Intensives:
Basic Training for Gospel Men
Meet in Richmond, VA each semester for two, three-day intensives. Every aspect of the experience is geared to help you learn God’s word in a distinctly masculine, pastoral atmosphere.
Devotion & Prayer
You’ll begin every morning by hearing a devotion from God’s Word. You’ll then be encouraged to earnestly seek the Spirit’s help to guide your studies throughout the day.
Live Instruction from Experienced Pastors
You’ll learn from our distinguished faculty, comprised of accomplished, qualified men who actively serve as local church pastors. More than communicators, our faculty frequently prays with, coaches, and mentors students as fellow elders.
Fellowship & Brotherhood
Nearly every seminary is full of men and women pursuing a variety of callings. Grimké, however, is for men who currently pastor or desire to pastor in local churches. You’ll meet and swap stories with other men, building lifelong ministry relationships.
Chapel Worship
After classes, you’ll gather to give thanks and sing praises to God. During chapel, skilled musicians will lead you in a mixture of contemporary songs and classic hymns. As any student will tell you, Grimké men sing loudly and it’s glorious.
Chapel Sermons
You’ll hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached through bold and timely sermons at the close of each day. Every message aims to encourage and build you up for faithful ministry upon returning from the intensive.
